The latest model from Bugatti, the Bugatti Tourbillon, is a potent hybrid vehicle with an eye-catching price tag. With a 1,500-horsepower engine, the $3.3 million Bugatti Chiron will be replaced by this new model.

Many people anticipated that Bugatti will introduce an all-electric car given the current auto industry trend and the company’s 2021 merger with Rimac. The Croatian firm Rimac is well-known for producing the all-electric Rimac Nevera supercar. The CEO of Bugatti Rimac, Mate Rimac, clarified that the company never intended for this new model to be entirely electric.

Instead, in order to produce a potent plug-in hybrid, Bugatti sought to preserve the essence of its classic cars while integrating contemporary technologies. The idea was to combine modern innovations with the iconic Bugatti experience.

Similar to the Chiron and Veyron that came before it, the Bugatti Tourbillon is equipped with a large 16-cylinder gasoline engine. This engine was created in association with the British race car engineering company Cosworth. Three strong electric motors are part of the hybrid system: two up front and one at the back. At least 800 horsepower can be generated alone by these electric motors.

1,800 horsepower is produced by the electric motors and gasoline engine working together. This power mix preserves the heritage of Bugatti’s mechanically driven vehicles while incorporating hybrid technology for a contemporary touch.
