The renowned vocalist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s long-lost album will be reissued more than thirty years after it was first recorded. The album Chain of Light, according to Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records, was recorded 34 years ago and will be available on September 20.

Four Sufi Islamic devotional songs, or “qawwals,” make up the CD, which was recorded at Real World Studios in April 1990. There is one song on the album that has never been heard before. When Real World Records was moving its collection in 2021, they came across the long-forgotten cassettes in warehouse storage and decided to rediscover “Chain of Light.”

In 1989, Peter Gabriel, who signed Khan to Real World, stated his enthusiasm for the album’s debut. He declared, While NFAK was recording Chain of Light, they were simultaneously collaborating with guitarist and producer Michael Brook on their 1990 album Mustt Mustt. Khan’s career had a major turning point during this time as he expanded his global audience by fusing traditional qawwali music with modern elements.
